It’s time to find out which cars will be in the spotlight in 2023! We’ve listed the models that will or definitely will make their debut! Be sure to save these photos for yourself or share them with your friends! We’ve also selected some of the most exciting new products of 2023 to tell you what we think will be the most exciting.
BMW 5 Series and i5
BMW has been testing next-generation V prototypes on public roads since 2021. An official premiere date has not yet been announced, but it is almost certain that the next generation model will be introduced in 2023.
What can we expect from the new Fifth Series? Judging by the spy photos – “nostrils” of more or less normal size and the usual single-layer optics at the front. Moreover, the model will be available not only in a four-door body. Recently, paparazzi spotted a working prototype of the station wagon.
Technical details are not reported yet. However, we can expect an M version with a battery similar in characteristics to the top version of the BMW iX electric crossover.
In addition to the mild hybrid bodywork, the engine lineup includes an improved version with the ability to charge the battery from an external source. Future M5s could also become rechargeable hybrids.
Kia EV9
Kia’s EV9 electric crossover also debuted as a concept model at the 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show. Then, in the summer of 2022, the company itself published photos of the pre-production prototype. The new model was introduced this spring. It will be the Korean brand’s most expensive model, with prices starting at more than $50,000.
‘In addition to its angular body, the SUV will attract attention with its size. It will be about five meters long and more than two meters wide. Details about the filler were also presented. The crossover has a range of 540 km, and it takes only six minutes to “refuel” for 100 km at the fast charging station. The GT version also promises to accelerate to 100 km/h in about five seconds.
Other features of the EV9 include the ability to download software updates via Wi-Fi and an advanced autopilot system that allows various options to be added remotely to the electric vehicle.
Mazda CX-90
Mazda will also introduce a new flagship three-row CX-90 SUV in 2023.
The CX-90 and two other small crossover models (CX-80 and CX-70, scheduled to launch in 2023) use Mazda’s new Premium platform, based on the longitudinal engine and rear-drive platform on which the CX-60 is based.
Mazda has developed a new inline-six engine, a 2.5-liter “four-cylinder” rechargeable hybrid powertrain and a new eight-speed “automatic transmission” for these new vehicles. Mazda will also split the crossover into different markets. For example, the CX-90 and CX-70 will be prepared exclusively for North America; the CX-90 and CX-70 will be slightly larger than the CX-80 and CX-60 aimed at Asia and Europe.
Mercedes-Benz EQG
The first electric helicopter is expected to be unveiled in 2023, if it sits! Yes, according to some sources, the model is not due until 2024. However, the fact that a fully “working” EQG prototype has been handed over to journalists for testing does not leave Mercedes-Benz any chance to postpone the presentation.
What will the battery-powered G-Class look like? Probably, it will be almost identical to the regular Gelandewagen, only a few “electric” elements will be added to the design. The chassis will remain the same, but the engine will be four at once (one at each wheel). There is no doubt about the latter: the company previously showed how the EQG prototype could turn the tank, but without a separate power transmission to the wheels, it would be impossible.
Last year it was also reported that the electric G-Class will be equipped with an innovative battery with a high degree of protection. Its capacity is expected to be more than 100 kWh. The novelty is expected to be very expensive. It will probably be more expensive than the Mercedes-AMG G 63.
Tesla Cybertruck
Tesla has repeatedly delayed the start of Cybertruck production. As a result, many are skeptical of promises of a mid-2023 launch. But the robots of the automotive world are really getting closer to the assembly line: in the spring of 2022, the company opened a pickup assembly plant in Texas and brought presses there to make the bodies.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk continues to drum up interest in pickup trucks. In the fall, he announced that the CyberTruck “can cross rivers, lakes, and even oceans,” and late last year he promised that the new truck, due to be launched this year, would be equipped with a megawatt charging system. That means Tesla’s future SuperPower EHS will be able to fully charge a pickup truck in just a few minutes. This is very important, for example, when towing crates filled with fertilizer.
Production of the Cybertruck will start with the coolest version, the four-engine version. It can then be converted to a smaller two-door version. Pre-orders for this model are currently approaching 1.7 million units. This is due to a special update file created by Tesla owners.
Toyota Camry and Land Cruiser Prado
Toyota is planning a full-fledged premiere ceremony in 2023. The company will undoubtedly present the Grand Highlander, a large crossover – the date of its first public appearance has already been announced. However, the next-generation Camry and Land Cruiser Prado could debut before December 31, 2023.
As for the Camry, which requires reservations: given that this generation won’t appear for six years until 2023, the likelihood that the new model will appear this year is not 100 percent. And that’s despite the fact that there’s no evidence online that development of this model is in its final stages. However, there are rumors and even some hypotheses about the future of the novelty.
The sedan, designed in the spirit of the previous Prius and Crown family, is expected to be equipped with a modern multimedia complex in the cabin, including a large screen, voice assistant and an update function via the Internet. The engine will be a new 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder motor. This engine will also be part of a powerful hybrid powertrain that will be offered in the top-end version combined with all-wheel drive. The V6 engine, on the other hand, will most likely no longer be available in the Camry.
There is no concrete information about the launch of the new Land Cruiser Prado yet. However, the next-generation SUV will celebrate its 14th anniversary in 2023. This coincides with the period when Toyota produced the Land Cruiser 200 before the Land Cruiser 300, so rumors of an early fall for the new Prado seem plausible, with a four-cylinder internal combustion engine and a V-twin hybrid unit expected. The Prado is expected to feature a four-cylinder internal combustion engine and a V-twin hybrid setup.
However, the Prado should remain a chassis-based vehicle. Its chassis is expected to use elements of the Land Cruiser 300. It is not known whether it will be a straight bolt-and-nut chassis, or whether retractable stabilizers will be used to provide lateral stability.
Volkswagen Tiguan
Finally, Volkswagen is likely to introduce the latest Tiguan in the new year, as prototypes of the crossover were actively introduced in 2022 and repeatedly caught photographers testing it.
Let’s start with the fact that the new Tiguan will be noticeably different from the current design. The body will become more aerodynamic. There will be a spirit of a real electric car in the look and feel. One of the highlights of the interior will be a large integrated multimedia display with a touch screen and a climate control unit. In addition, the Tiguan will be equipped with a gear selector under the steering wheel. This is a first for all generations.
The engine consists of a small hybrid internal combustion engine of lightweight type, compliant with Euro-7 standards, and a full hybrid system that can be recharged from an electrical outlet. There are no plans for an all-electric version. And if there is already an ID.4, what is it for?
